ONTD's favorite band announced their highly anticipated 10th album today, Moon Music, out on October 4th

I also like that they've been sending out reports/newsletters on their progress with it. They also 'gamify' it a little bit at the concerts themselves - even without the 'kinetic dance floor' and the stationary bikes which are essentially powering turbines, before the show they have a little slideshow of the initiatives they've run so far in conjunction with the tour (eg. planting forests in different countries in South America, the river cleaning boats in Malaysia, etc) and they show the return % of the coloured wristbands at which the last 3 (at least that was the case when I went) cities to turn it into a little competition.

I know it's cool to hate on them but man their live shows are amazing

It kind of pisses me off that there's a bunch of hate on them. I mean, they've created some really gorgeous music; Fix You, Yellow, The Scientist, Clocks, Warning Sign, Paradise, Trouble... the entire Parachutes and X & Y albums. I could go on and on. And they're a great live show. Maybe it isn't your style but they're still great musicians

I agree. I have been disappointed with Coldplay's music for a long time, but there's no denying their first three/four albums were great. And I wouldn't have mind them going into EDM territory if they had done something special with it, but their music became generic and soulless, with few exceptions. It's good that bands evolve and change their sound (Arctic Monkeys have done it so well imo), but Coldplay evolved to something uninteresting.

People love to pile on the hate just because it's fun. Nickelback is no different than other emo bands but people love to single them out, because it's what they hear online so they keep repeating it.

I respect Coldplay for their commitment to downsize their carbon emissions and I'll be listening to their new stuff hoping they come up with something great.

Honestly the most recent album of theirs that I liked was Ghost Stories. And I always forget that Mylo Xyloto came *before*, because outisde of a few songs I didn't really like the album. I appreciate Music of the Spheres a lot more now that I've been to their MOTS tour, but X&Y, Viva la Vida and Ghost Stories will always be my faves of theirs.

I always give their albums a listen when they release them, and if I don't like it I just move on lol.
