The opening scene of X2 is still so so good. I remember the theater being absolutely silent throughout. Amazing.

I understand why he didn't come back for X3 (story aside) but I would have loved to his Nightcrawler again.

He's not wrong, the allegory is very intentional - I remember specifically some of the human parents of mutants using a lot of the same language people use on queer kids "well have you tried not to be?" etc. etc. And X-men is definitely the queerest mainstream comic there is, to my knowledge. Although I wouldn't cite Singer when I was trying to demonstrate the representation in that movie 😬

I mean, I’m sure the director being queer affected how Alan felt while acting in the movie and kept a lot of the queer coding in the film. He didn’t praise singer here.
