i have several thoughts

1.Miles teller is ugly and Richard Gere is hot so this already doesn't work

2.I don't know about gere but Miles is not a gentleman in real life and is an asshole so again this does not work

3.Did they mean to announce this before Gosset's death because if not,it looks like they are doing this just because he died

Miles Teller is 37 and Gere was 32 when they made AOAAG. Gere easily looked 5 years younger than his age, Teller doesn't. At some point, the plot doesn't work with him being older.
