That's awful. RIP. I assume they haven't officially released a cause yet, but from the comments about the heat and his age, hopefully there was no foul play. It's still scary to think about, though - nature is no joke. I went solo hiking last fall (on easier trails that had a good amount of foot traffic) and there were definitely a couple of tough spots on the trail where you could imagine something going wrong and then no one being there to help.

A coroner had to come out before they moved the body to judge if there was any chance of foul play. They’re now transporting it to Rhodes, which makes me think no indication of that, just a tragic accident.

he was found on his back with his hand over his heart so it might have been cardiac arrest :/

There's something extra sad about deaths on vacations. The expectation is that you're going to go, have a great time, and come back together and instead it's a tragedy. You're in a foreign place and instead of walking through the airport together, you have to deal with the expensive and complex ordeal of repatriating a body.
