Very good and gentle response by Quinta to an invasive question phrased as something trying to be innocent. From Variety’s point of view I get why they asked it but come on. Let Jen be the one to bring it up if she’s comfortable with it
A genuine failure to anticipate such a wholly predictable reaction (what, I poked directly at her friend's sudden death less than a year after it happened, who could've guessed she'd cry?!) would make me question how many working brain cells the people who approved the question collectively possessed.
I was moved by the way her voice immediately changed when she realizes Jen is crying, and she says they don't have to talk about it. She's such a star <3
I want to be optimistic and say that Jen/her publicist would’ve gave forewarning not to ask about this if she didn’t want it brought up she so probably expected it but at the same time I feel like it was so insensitive and purely clickbait to get their online engagement up from this interview. Quinta handled this with such empathy and understanding that it endeared me to her even more. I very much enjoyed this interview and this part made me a wreck.
not to be extra cynical, but i wouldn't put it past jen & her team (or most celebs tbh) to include a question in order to trigger an emotional response for precisely that reason
