In fairness to you, it was originally written for Roy Orbison (who released his version after Cyndi) and also covered by Celine Dion (with whose version I am admittedly more familiar). Don't feel so bad!

I saw her on her last European tour and wouldn't go again. She was throwing tantrums on stage, throwing her shoes, cursing out everything and everyone. Really took away from the experience, no matter how insanely good she was singing. I'm very sure it wasn't just a bad night because I heard the sound engineer saying to a stagehand before the gig, he was sure she was going to kick off again after the soundcheck.

"She Bop" was THAT song, and the remix is fire. Cyndi was legit out here singing songs that normalized masturbation in the 80s, and good for all of us.

I was well into my 20’s when someone told me what that song was about, lol. Which made eight year old me embarrassed because I would sing that song around the house and my parents probably thought it was funny that I was blissfully unaware.
