BREAKING: Chad Daybell is sentenced to death for the murder of his wife and girlfriend’s two youngest children in an Idaho doomsday plot. https://t.co/GXepfwhzi2 - The Associated Press (@AP) June 1, 2024
shit, didn't know the sentencing would come so quickly. He deserves it. I would say if he deserves it, she deserves it even more. I don't really understand why it was off the table for her.
Next step is justice for Charles Vallow, I hope.
edit, I found it for anyone else who is wondering. The prosecutors DID seek the death penalty for Lori but the judge ruled against it. The death penalty should be dismissed because of media saturation, multiple discovery violations by the government, Vallow’s mental status and the inability of the state to effectively administer the death penalty should the jury decide to impose it, the defense motion said. https://www.cnn.com/2023/03/22/us/lori-vallow-death-penalty-idaho-ruling/index.html
JJ's grandparents wanted him back once Charles died but when Lori found out that his sister was getting his money instead of her JJ was killed out of spite imo
So he killed his wife because he wanted to be with his girlfriend (or some twisted logic) and THEN him and his new gf, they killed her children because they basically wanted to be in a relationship without any interference (ex wives or children). Did I get the basics right???? like wtf
But also add a lot of Mormonism and specifically a subset of a 'end of the world' Mormonism beliefs that included like... Chad and Lori allegedly believing her children were spiritual zombies.
do you think Chad and/or Lori believed the zombie stuff or were they just using it as an excuse to behave the way they did? I go back and forth. I think she probably 100% bought into what he said but undecided if he believed the shit he was spewing

Such a monstrous case. Their shared religious delusions and the weird hold Lori had over her brother were especially bizarre
