Finding out about ghost surgery really makes plastic surgery feel too risky. Granted, that goes beyond the typical risks of any major surgery into how the profit motivation undermines safety and the ability to trust medical practitioners.

Essentially it’s a scam where you make an appointment with a surgeon for a procedure. They wait till you’re out under anesthesia and then leave, allowing some other party to perform the surgery. Sometimes the other person has no appropriate training. It allows the primary surgeons to double, triple book, and make a ton of money while giving a smaller cut to the ghosts.

I've gotten botox since last year and honestly i love it - it just makes me look less tired! I still look like myself.

I really appreciate her transparency about this. It's really no one's business whether or not someone gets a procedure done, but I feel like women can't win - either you're "fake" for opting for a surgical intervention, or you look old for aging naturally.

I'm just about 40 and I'm trying to see how far I can get aging naturally. A couple of people mistook me for younger just in the past month alone; I take care of my skin and have good genes, I think. I don't want to say never, but at this point I don't see myself opting for injections or fillers. But I've got tattoos, so I obviously am not against body modification. I think the important distinction for me is whether you are doing it because *you* want to feel better about yourself or you feel like you *have* to do it to fit in. If you're doing it for yourself, then do whatever makes you feel great about yourself :)

Idk how people are brave enough for elective surgery. I cried all the way to the OR with my emergency c-section. Can’t imagine actively choosing to go through the knife.

I had multiple procedures when I was in my 20's cause I just thought there really weren't any risks, especially because of my age, but as an adult I am horrified by how casual I was about it.
