Whatever works for them I guess, but it sounds weird af.
I'd hate someone else controlling my phone.

"“We are meant to evolve as people. How are you meant to do that if you’re always held to account by things that you’ve said in the past? I said that 20 years ago when I was a completely different person, hadn’t been married, didn’t have children. Of course, I had a different outlook on life. Don’t hold me to that.”

Lol you can try and control or get rid of social media but not the internet in general lol.

She's not totally wrong that social media has its harmful effects but she's really insecure.

My bfs screen-time is averaging about 6 hours a day and I’m getting worried. I took photos and even showed him how he looks when hes on tiktok or playing chess. He looks like a zombie. It only started happening this year.

I find her phrasing melodramatic, but I do think smartphones (like the one I'm writing this on, ikik) have negatively affected my quality of life. And I'm the kind of person who sets screen time limits for myself only to bypass them like a damn fool. 🤷‍♀️

Semi-related: There's money out there for the company that creates restricted smartphones for the elderly. The only way I could stop my older relative from installing every malware app under the sun on her Android was to set her up as a 3-year-old on Google Family Link. Eventually I got her a Lively Jitterbug phone but her main app is YouTube and somehow she was still getting links to urgently "clean her phone." As the smartphone-using population ages, this will be more of an issue.

I figured it was something to do with the nature of smart phones and feeling addicted to them. I know I spend way too much time on mine and I'm trying to do better, especially since it can set off headaches for me. I hate how often I reach for my phone though.
