Gonna be honest, it reads more like an English speaker pretending to be Nigerian just to throw people off their trail. I do believe they’ve scammed people before, and probably didn’t anticipate Riley fighting back, but come on!

That's exactly what it is. Unfortunately Nigeria is known for scams and this asshole ran with that because certain (White) people would find it believable, while not noticing the small details that don't add up.
