I saw some people on twitter explaining that the reason why this happens is because only actors who are in the festival's movies get to stop and pose on the stairs, everyone else has to keep moving.

That's all very well but there's no reason to be so rude when rushing people who can't pose on the stairs. Just let them know beforehand, it's not that hard.

right? just stand in the way of the cameras and they'll keep going, you don't have to touch people unless they're an actual security risk

also very interesting that this is only happening to women

And she's wearing a strapless dress too! One tug to hard and she'll be flashing everyone.

Right? Why are grabbing anyone like that, let alone over pictures? Has this ever happened before?

It’s Cannes Film Festival, not the MET Gala.

From what I heard, a guy who just came back from Cannes says that they're pretty strict about the stairs. Basically if you ever celebs with posing on there and it's just them most likely their people or sponsor paid to have them pose on the stairs so they're not gonna get blocked.

Heidi Klum is a guest of L’Oreal, one of the main sponsors of the festival. MIND YOU I just got back from Cannes, and have walked that carpet a few times with brands and have assisted other talents with their carpets so I know how the protocols go. https://t.co/VRaPKLuFjM

because those ladies are at the bottom of the stairs. In Cannes they’re extremely strict about posing ON the stairs ( this is why cell phones are banned because people stood around here for pictures disrupting carpet ) brands however can pay to close it down for their invitees. https://t.co/5dvtU8SjgD

Granted I think they have the guards handle it better or basically inform the celebs of the protocol ( ... )

From some Europeans I occasionally come across on IG, there tends to be common thread of most of them finding the French in particular of being rude compared to the rest.

There's obvious racial profiling but even as a white woman, if I go to Monoprix to pick up something they pretty regularly will ask to look inside my bag. for a country that like, my co-workers regularly would scold me for being "too" American and taking my job seriously it is so weird

Omg that takes me back. I am so used to just take my bags from other stores or a backpack into a store and no one cares. One time I went to a grocery store on a trip with my sister in Nice, France and the security guy stopped us on the exit and basically accused us of shop lifting. THANKFULLY my sister kept the receipt from the other store (I wouldn’t have) and he checked item by item to make sure it’s all on that list.

Oh and of course he didn’t speak a single word of English even though he knew we were tourists. Also, why even let us enter the store then!
