i work for the business dept of a huge retail conglomerate (as opposed to the regular consumer side). the amount of bullshit i hear. every day, all day. "i know you don't make exceptions, but this is a special case and i deserve on because XYZ"

never ending. i've spent $10000 in 2 years! yeah. we have clients making at least 10 x 10000 purchases every day.

That kind of entitlement is so widespread. When I used to work big box, I would always get someone who said “I shop here all the time, gimme” I even had someone pull a “don’t you know who I am”, and it was the family member/caregiver of an infant that was beaten by the bb’s mother. The story had made local news, and the family member was all over tv. She came into the store looking for stuff for the baby. She pulled the don’t you know who I am line, and I quietly thought, lady, that is not something you want to toss as clout. The manager did give her some diapers and formula, which was nice, but this lady’s attitude was just so off putting.
