I need to watch Dark City, it's been on my to-watch list for too long (and I love Rufus Sewell). I'd heard for a long time that the Matrix was 'inspired' by it.

There's a different version? O_o I watched it in theatres, long overdue for a rewatch.

LOL yes - the theatrical cut has a narration that ruins the entire movie because it spoils the twist as to what the city is hahaha. If you do get stuck with the theatrical cut, people suggest muting Kiefer Sutherland's intro narration.
