I get that conmen gonna con. And I get that famous, rich people can make good targets, because they are often very disconnected from all their assets, and things slip through the cracks. But how this dude thought he was just going to auction off Graceland and Elvis's family was going to just shrug and be like "whoopsie, guess we missed a bill".... wild shit.

It is unclear why Memphis (or Graceland and Keough's attorneys, lbr) allowed this case to go as far as it did.

I understand why Keough's attorneys did little initially. They received an outlandish claim to the estate, with no evidence to back it up. It is not uncommon for people to send letters to wealthy people/estates with their hands out. Hoping for a quick settlement. The lawyers tried the normal, basic methods of contacting the claimant, but he was inaccessible. They did not pursue it further. It is not on Keough to pay her lawyers to do his due diligence. If he has a legitimate claim, then he has to provide the evidence ( ... )
