Also re: Carmy and Sydney - I didn’t ship them while watching the show but the Sydney/Ayo haters on r/thebear have radicalized me so now I’m rooting for them out of SPITE.

A lot of people confuse her trying to keep him in check/focused as her being jealous of his girlfriend but it’s not that at all. Sydney is driven and really wants the restaurant to succeed.
I really enjoy watching his level of respect for her and her assertiveness grow in every episode.

Hmmm I've only watched Season 2 once, but I did read it as jealousy - not in a "that should be me" way, but more like a "we're trying to build something special here and you're giving your time and energy to someone else" kind of way.
I'm really hoping they get into a big fight at some point and Sydney gets to rip him a new asshole. It would be cathartic, for her and for me lol.

You should definitely watch season 1.

Oh I've watched Season 1 a lot! It was my comfort show for months lol. But I found Season 2 so much more stressful and depressing overall that I watched it when it dropped and haven't revisited it. I'll do a rewatch before Season 3 though.

I really loved the way season 2 focused on almost everyone’s growth.
The Seven Fishes episode made me cry. The details were incredible down to Jamie Lee’s overly smudged wine glass.
The opening night of The Bear, where Jamie Lee Curtis shows up but decides not to go in shows growth for her character. Not wanting to add an inevitable layer of stress for Sugar and Carmy, she leaves allowing them to really have their moment.
Sugar’s husband naively/desperately trying to convince her to come join them. Ugh, such a heartbreaking scene but Im glad it happened. I now have a new level of respect / empathy for him. He really loves Sugar so much and just wants everyone to be happy. That’s probably why they’re married, they’re cut from the same cloth.

This is exactly where I'm at. Their partnership is already so unique and special and the heart of the show for me. Also based on Carmy/Claire I don't trust the writers to know how to write a good romance.
But I also want the racists and neckbeards to seethe so I'm torn lmao.
