A depressing reminder for those of you who don't have much experience with Christianity that exorcisms have, traditionally, mostly been used to abuse misbehaving women and mentally ill people.
I know that the Exorcism of Emily Rose was based on a real case. A young woman had a mental illness and was treated by the church, from what I remember. I think she died from malnutrition and neglect in general.
Yes, she was in her early twenties and suffered from depression and epilepsy (with the epilepsy causing something called postictal psychosis, apparently). [TW: death/abuse/violence]By the time she died, after nearly a year of exorcisms, over 60 exorcism sessions, she weighted 30 kg, had both of her knees broken from being made to kneel constantly and seemed to believe, at one point, that her suffering serves to help other people, which I don't doubt is what the priests told her Sadly, she's not the only such case.
AND another thing, these types NOTORIOUSLY blame all problems on the women in their lives. That was my point-I got carried away as I usually do lmfao. but they always blame everything on their gf/wife. The demons they're fighting are self-loathing and deep rooted homophobia, but they'll instead rewire that somehow into "Well I wouldnt have all these feelings of conflict and trouble if my WOMAN was acting as God intended her to!!" Recognize that. If you ever spot it, fkin run.
