Chris Hemsworth Slams Marvel Actors Who Shade Their Own Superhero Movies: ‘Humility Goes a Long Way’

Chris Hemsworth is irked by actors who sign on to star in a Marvel movie and then bash the MCU afterwards.

“It’s, like, ‘They’re films that are successful - put me in one. Oh, mine didn’t work? I’ll bash them.' Look, I grew up on a soap opera. And it used to bother me when… pic.twitter.com/i27xTkTpOk

I don't see why you'd take it so personally unless they are talking about your performance specifically. And yes, they are all wrong.

Because it reflects badly on people whose careers are somewhat defined by those roles. Hopkins, Bale, etc. aren’t pigeonholed like some of the MCU actors are so being able to make comments like that without fear of career tanking come from a big place of privilege in that sense IMO. Like they were happy to take the money and then talk shit because they don’t need more money/recognition from that role.

I feel the same way about Pattinson and Twilight tbh, and bands who become famous in large part based on a huge song and then decide they’re too good to play that song during concerts anymore, because they’re sick of it even though so many people buy tickets because they became fans through that song.

I have feelings lol

Pattinson gets away with his shit way more than any actress would.

My comment was more aimed at the last part about Scorsese.

People still dislike Melissa George for refusing to talk about her start in soaps.

Being on a soap seems like a good gig, especially when you’re getting a lot of episodes.

he's not wrong
Nobody starts with their dream job while being the absolute best at it
Sometimes projects fail and you learn from it

I remember Chris Pine saying he started his career as a commercial VA and he was "yeah I did that, I paid the bill, cool"

I don’t think bashing should happen just because a project doesn’t do well, but I do understand if someone doesn’t like a movie they have been in.

Movies are collaborative and even if you put your all in and really liked the original concept, it may not be anything like what ends up on screen. Someone may have also just had a miserable experience on set. I don’t know that I think they should have to pretend they loved it when they didn’t (I know it will happen during promo, but beyond that.)

I think it might have been Chris Evans who once talked about how sometimes you read a great script and are excited about it and then you get on set and you realize it is not going to go the way you thought it was, which I think is interesting to talk about. Sometimes a film seems like it has such potential and then the end product is just not up to par.

Yep scripts get changed, things get cut, and there are so many moving parts that sometimes even just 1 thing can completely change the final product.

There is only so much control someone has over that and I could see why sometimes an actor would just want to take the money and run.
