I feel like that clip of Reese Whiterspoon where she screams to her daughter "I DON'T GIVE A FUCK! I DON'T CARE ABOUT HOMELESS PEOPLE!" except I don't care about that damn MCU beef with Scorsese.
He criticised the MCU years ago. Who cares anymore? And I don't blame Hemsworth here, I blame the boring ass journalists. Ask new questions!

He's not wrong about the actors who act as if they're above franchises once the check cleared and the movie wasn't good. See:Dakota Johnson whom I don't find charming at all.

It's from Big Little Lies. The way she says it matches my annoyance about this MCU discussion.

The thing is, Scorsese's Marvel criticism wasn't even harsh. He was only saying that it occupies a different space, just like other franchise commercial movies, and its stories are very much bound by the diktats of the Marvel-Disney Corporation. He also quite rightly noted how we were being inundated with its movies to the detriment of other things also being shown.

Scorsese has also said that he really liked Sam Raimi's Spider-Man films, so it's not even that he hates superhero movies.

But even if he did, let people enjoy hate things!

Sam Raimi really understood Spider-Man, he made us root for Tobey's Peter Parker. Whereas with Tom Holland's Peter, I feel nothing. These Marvel films for the most part have no soul, Scorsese's right to discriminate.

Okay, I thought it was just me, lol. I've only seen the 1st Tom Holland one, but there's something about the movie that's too sleek; I can't get as invested as I did with Raimi's trilogy. I don't think it helps either that I'm so sick of Iron Man infiltrating every single Marvel movie--we have Nick Fury and Maria Hill for that, why aren't we using them??

I think there are many reasons why cinema-going changed but imo one of the big ones that doesn't get talked about enough is we're broke.

Everyone being broke is the biggest factor behind so many things today.

Yep. A family of four going to the cinema is now pretty much a hundred dollar night out before you've done anything except get there and pay for tickets.

also i don't understand why he's saying smartphones and social media changed moviegoing? the biggest contributor is streaming

He made it pretty clear, they’re heroes to him.

🙄 actually if you wanna get specific he said it bothered him on its own, then added that especially because they're heroes
