Someone remind me of the jason lore. Was the bad guy in one of the early onea his mothers

Yes his mother was the killer in the first film. Jason only showed up in the sequels.

yes, the premise is jason was a camper at camp crystal lake and the counselors were too busy fornicating and goofing off to pay attention so jason drowned and it causes his mother to snap and go on a killing spree.

I actually think a series watching the evolution of her grief turning into lunacy would have been quite interesting.

It literally changes every film to a degree.
I mean, they continue where they leave off, but little plot holes are ever present.
