Was Sebastian Stan just tired of people thirsting over him/liking him as an actor and decided to take a hard left with his career?? (I'm also including that Pamela and Tommy doc and his recent Met Gala look in this series of bad decisions)

I can't imagine what it must be like to be part of the Marvel stable. There are so many different factors that make working for them sound like golden handcuffs. I totally understand why he would want mix it up by working on movies with renowned and up and coming directors for like 2 months with the production budget equivalent to a few weeks of craft services on Thunderbolts.

I completely get wanting to mix it up and get away from Marvel, but sleezy biopics are a weird choice. I'm looking at the rest of the Apprentice's director's filmography and it also seems like a weird pivot for him too (he clearly likes to explore the dark side of humanity, but also its heroes, and there's none really in the real life version of this story - which is just a blunt tale of corruption and racist housing practices).

i think he's become a little desperate to win an award since i, tonya but even more so since pam & tommy. i think every major nomination he's gotten has been for a biopic so he went for another one, this time where he's the lead. i'm guessing the story doesn't paint trump well (what could?!) so he thinks hollywood and those that vote for the awards will eat it up.

Same. I have a morbid fascination with that creep. I went down a gettyimages rabbit hole looking through old pictures of him and his associates partying at Studio 54. There are some wild pictures of his home and decor. I watched a really compelling documentary (directed by the granddaughter of the Rosenbergs Ivy Meeropol) all about his decades of ratfuckery and evil deeds called Bully Coward Victim. Very much worth watching if you haven't already!

Omg I'm excited for this casting!

I have to say I'm rarely excited by actors that gossip subs care about (usually older or late women, often queer, overlooked, and underrated or forgotten....like Barbara Harris or Tallulah Bankhead) but I am very excited by Jeremy Strong.
