It's a very strange, very ridiculous, very 2000s, very gay little show. I highly recommend it. The military propaganda isn't as military propaganda-y as it seems either. It's kinda more like "American incompetence porn"?

I don't know if I agree that it's American incompetence porn per se, but I do think the first season did a good job at critiquing the American military complex in a way that one might not necessarily expect based on the names involved (lol). One of the moments that stuck with me was when Cruz tells Zoe Saldana's character that by targeting civilians in the way that they're doing, they're just guaranteeing another generation of terrorists/people who will hate America. Which feels very apropos nowadays!

Yeah, that's the moment that brings it home. And some of the stuff Kyle says. I'm gonna need to rewatch to dial in my thoughts. It felt, at a minimum, like "the American government is fucking up and the narrative knows it"
