I love her so much so very heartbreaking to learn she’s in that adaptation. Truly one of the worst written books I’ve ever read not to mention straight up Holocaust porn. Major ick.
I quit reading WW2 novels a few years ago. I have no interest in watching this tv adaptation but I briefly considered it when I saw she was in it (less than two seconds later, the feeling passed).
I don’t blame you at all. I sometimes still read an occasional one about the resistance or home front but I don’t think I’d take money to read another Holocaust one.
I feel like WW2 novels are similar to chick lit in that there were some pretty good books initially but once they became a full on separate category, publishers started rubber stamping anything in the genre regardless of the quality.
Why not? Genuinely curious. They had to do what they had to do because someone was extremely unhappy (justified, completely imo. They triggered her own personal trauma) and wanted to leave. Apparently, they changed some things for her character that weren't in the original script/overview she was given?
I think they did the best they could, honestly.
I think a lot of people are mad about there not being a supernatural element. I was relieved, honestly.
So does the adaptation of the book / the author's story include how the author made a bunch of stuff up and twisted the real story into something that would sell more books?

I've got my fingers and toes crossed that they do! I loved the first season and I'm holding out hope they can turn it around.
