Well that’s unfortunate, but good for Lu Kala. That poor girl was desperate for her songs to be a viral hit on TikTok, it was kind of embarrassing.

Maybe she’s just trying to show him how to open the doors of her Cybertruck

Yes, she is desperate enough. I don’t get it, if I were her I would just count and recount my stacks of cash from One of the Boys/Teenage Dream/Prism eras + enjoy Orlando Bloom, but she seems desperate for the fame and attention again too.

I don't think she ever took it well that seriously fell out with Witness. I always thought she was a one-hit wonder that got super lucky after IKAG so it's not too surprising she eventually hit a rut but it somewhat surprising still she cause a strong chart-topper for a few years and then nothing.

I think her not breaking out of that "single artist" image hurt her in some ways cause I remember her and Rihanna were described as that for yearsss but Rihanna managed to break away and show artistry and growth with ANTI. Katy I think was aiming for that but took too long and didn't completely break away from that silly shtick of hers.

Yeah I think the difference is Rihanna built a fanbase and Katy didn’t. if you have a fanbase you can afford a flop or two but if you don’t have a fanbase one flop and you’re over.

Also, while Rihanna and Katy were both singles artists Rihanna did manage to put out a cohesive album in ANTI which helped her image and I think the streaming numbers on that are still pretty good to this day. Katy never managed that.

I wish these celebs would know how to stop while they’re ahead! Rihanna actually did do this and stopped at a good time while Katy ended on a bad note.

Huh I've seen people mention that Katy didn't have a fanbase which I'm surprised by! Cause I'm pretty positive she did have some fans but I guess she didn't build up that relationship??? Again I think it goes to due the lack of artistic growth cause singles can only take you far?

I guess Rihanna always had more of a persona and personality that attracted people to her. But I also think that even her singles were more pop and maturer than Katy's singles cause Katy seemed more like a one-trick pony in hindsight whereas Rihanna did experiment with sound, image, and music before ANTI. Like I always felt Unapologetic starts setting the tone for ANTI and there's a 4-year gap between those 2 albums.

yikes. look, I do feel terribly for Katy that Dr. Luke was clearly the secret sauce that made her biggest singles so electric and then she had to quit working with him due to circumstances entirely out of her control (a man being utter trash). like, if she had been able to keep working with him in perpetuity then I do think her career trajectory would have been different (yes I know there are other moves she made that affected that too but I think a LOT of that would have been forgiven if the musical output had been more consistent) but... yikes!

but my next thought is that could this be a case of sampling an older song? he would still need to be credited, no? I don't think it would be out of line for her to draw on her past work just because he was involved... but what do I know

I know she's desperate, but why even work with him in 2024?? there are plenty of producers that can copy/paste his style now and make songs with the exact same formula. sabrina is doing it right now with espresso, so like why even bother unless she thinks the controversy will help to get people talking idk
