I’ve never broken but have fractured a few times…more prone to them thanks to being hypermobile.
One time I fractured my wrist and my mom didn’t believe me. Took a week before she finally took me, even made me go to sports practices in that time. She worked in healthcare 🥲
And then last month I fractured my finger and came full circle by refusing to go to the doctor and DIYing it. Being bedbound means having to weigh if it’s worth being super sick for weeks after a doctors visit. I decided if in a few days it was still hurting as bad I’d go in but it didn’t and I was able to heal it myself! If it was any worse or even a different bone I definitely would have gone immediately but it just wasn’t worth it.
I broke my right ankle when I got hit by a drunk driver when I was 20 years old I had to get metal screws and plates and two surgeries and the cop that was on my case was an asshole and gaslit me by saying he never did a photo line up of the dude who hit me and blamed me being on pain meds and being delusional 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄
i fell on my ankle while moving some years back - stepped down the stairs thinking it was the last step but it wasn't, there were two more and i was carrying furniture - and twisted up my ankle REAL bad. ever since then i decided i'm done with my running down the stairs years. i also bit it so many times, especially on rainy days. i don't need to catch the train that bad, it's fine, i'll miss the train and be 5 minutes late, but i'm not gambling on my ankles anymore, lol.
The absolutely hilarious thing is in like 2000 I went to some kind of medium in New Orleans. This bitch told me I had weak ankles. Friends and I all laughed and were like “okayyyyy… thanks miss cleo!” It took almost 20 years but my ankles are finally stronger than a wet paper bag. Ice skating has been the only bad sprain I’ve had these last couple years.
