He'd be smart to enter into an established franchise that at worst will just get mediocre reviews and will even then still net him connections. Trying to do a full remake of a beloved piece of media will rarely earn an audience's love (unless there's several decades or a language barrier between the remake and the original, neither of which was the case for Avatar).
