When an American family is invited to spend the weekend at the idyllic country estate of a charming British family they befriended on vacation, what begins as a dream holiday soon warps into a snarled psychological nightmare.

The film is a remake of a Danish film from 2022.

this looks so disturbing but the trailer gave away way too much of the movie

Horror movies are notorious for this. They often give away critical plot points and even major character deaths. That’s why *most* of the time, I choose not to watch the trailer and go in blind if it’s a horror movie I really want to see. I did that with the more recent Halloween and Scream films. My thoughts on the films were mixed but it was exciting going into them not knowing what to expect and not having seen any of the trailers.

Though I did watch yesterday’s trailer for Maxxxine lol. Which looks great.

i remember the original movie pissed me off with how stupid the victim family was, [Spoiler (click to open)]everything could have been fully avoided if the adults had had anything resembling a spine and weren't such doormats. and i figure that that was the point of the movie, that the villains were relying on the victims to adhere to certain social norms re not making a fuss, not wanting to offend/hurt others, etc., in order to prey on them. but goddamn was it irritating to see it play out on screen with how over the top it got and how dumb the victims were lmfao.

haha I get really anxious at the thought of having unpleasant conversations but the thought of spending time with weirdos I don't want to spend time with freaks me out more. I've been in situations where I had to rip the bandaid off telling someone that no, we couldn't hang out or no, I'm not down for a visit, etc. and it sucked but the thought of seeing them in person honestly filled me with dread lol. So it was a question of priorities!

There’s no way they’ll go as hard as the original

they’ll never commit to where the original went, like, i’d really be shocked if they did.

also i really think remaking this doesn’t work on a fundamental level because i remember when the original came out it was like, that kindness that the victims continued to extend was a part of the culture cuz otherwise you’re just like FUCKING LEAVE???

Yeah I also question the notion that Americans are supposedly more culturally polite/reserved than the Brits.

Well isn't this a little treat for Halt and Catch Fire fans!

Although I don't think I could watch this because my husband and I would totally do this. I at least hope he still has enough Jersey in him to not let it get too bad.

Your comment made me watch the trailer. Cast looks great but they’ll always be Gordon and Cameron to me so it’s weird they’re a couple lol.

I need a Bos icon.
