Zendaya on early childhood stardom + taking on more adult roles

Zendaya says breaking away from high school roles is "refreshing," but admits "I wish I went to school" in real life.

I feel like even the parents have the best intentions and protect them well, they still screw'em up a bit by making them breadwinners and not letting them have a normal life.

I notice she is currently 27 and I know that for me around that age especially at 28 I had a sudden shift mentality because the brain has fully matured around those ages and so you start looking back and changing your minds on things you previously either agreed or disagreed on. So it's not surprising that she's now realizing the difference in her upbringing compared to maybe actors that found fame as adults cause I'm sure she'll notice it in conversation.

She probably didn't care about missing out on school but now she misses it cause it would've been part of maturation process and also she could've messed up/goofed up like any other teen at that age.

I do feel for her and any other child star and hope she works it out :(

The realization and understanding that she was the breadwinner at a young of an age isn't great, but I feel like she's doing good things with her own reality. It seems she's created her own community...and remembers hers.

Whatever that may be.

I'm not a Zendaya stan, but I find her to be kinda great.

Much appreciation to Denis Vinwhatshisface (it's too late for me to spell that properly) for pointing out she was the one who took time to look behind the camera and understand shots and filming and directing. I think she could. Even if just how she moves via a Vogue cover shot and knows things.

I'm rooting for Zendaya, always.

Bless her heart. So savvy

Understandable. High school is nothing much to miss out tbh. In such a ideal world with equal opportunities, we’d all have been so super chill and thrive on. But the trouble is now kids these days are bragging about being a high school dropout. Like, that is not a flex and a W. Everything’s TLDR now and it’s very meta 😢. So take a grain of salt with it

I love her. And this was sad to read ☹️ I kind of feel her. I’ve got that eldest daughter, “she’s so mature for her age”, parents had high expectations kind of thing, and it was always assumed I’d go to university etc etc. so I wasn’t allowed to do subjects I enjoyed or my mom deemed I wasn’t good enough at, like art (jokes on her I’m actually a decent watercolour painter). So I just ended up on this path of things I was good at rather than exploring who I am properly and I had a bit of an existential crisis last year.

High school was sucky though. Did not care for that greatly other than my friends and a great biology teacher I had.

"Serena Williams and Venus Williams, that’s all I connected to; and Roger Federer"

Those are my tennis heroes. Venus first, because if there are two sisters and one is the older I'm rooting for the older one. She knew her shots, but aging is a thing. Not supporting her sister was never a thing. The balance together and Venus has a special place, always. Serena was the more dominant one over time, and to this day has a fuck you attitude that I appreciate. She will argue the line, get frustrated, dominate a match in a way that can make racist tennis fans and judges scared. And it should. Federer is known for angles and grace and support of those two women. To a fault (heh).

Some things have been wondered about the literal serve in this film and the style of a tennis serve.

Show me a perfect tennis serve and WHO CARES?
