Carrie was my first Stephen King novel. I read it at 11/12 expecting to be super scared because of the book cover and the name King is legendary but I just remember thinking it was incredibly sad 😢 And all the sex stuff went way over my head lol.

I read Carrie when I was a child and loved it. I think th reason why it resonates with so many people is it was one of the rar instancs in literature where the bullied struck back and gave a comeuppance to some deserving people. The religious aspect was the icing on the cake.

I have no idea if this would hold up for me but this was the first Stephen King book I ever read!

My middle school library was connected to the high school one & since the librarian liked me she’d let me sneak over for books there. I know I binged a bunch of his books after that first one but I remember it all so vividly!

This is kinda silly bc obviously I don't know these people but sometimes I think about his mother (who struggled financially while raising her children) died before she could see her son's success. :(

His dad sucks though ✌️

First book was 50 years ago and this man can still churn a book a year. You could learn from him, GRRM!
