The lyrics feel very “It’s Never Too Late For Now” and the music is derivative, but I still really like this song.

100% when I first heard First Love/Late Spring, that bass and those bells instantly reminded me of a Pixies song. And then that guitar riff so much!

The Pixies are one of my favorite bands and Mitski is my number one favorite artist, so I was so happy to hear it. I can’t put my finger exactly on what pixie song it reminds me of the most, but I have it next to I Bleed(pixies) on my “Songs that All Sound Like This” playlist on Spotify lol. I’m slowly curating songs that give me the same vibes.
For example, Happier Than Ever by Billie Eilish is sooooooo Carry Me Out by Mitski, and that’s why I like that Billie Eilish song so much lol

More Mitski songs that I can hear the Pixies in are A Pearl( starts at 1:10) and I also can’t quite put my finger on what pixies song, but that one reminds me the most of Caribou, which is my favorite Pixies song.
