(Also find it very funny that in the show universe, McGee has been there for like 15 years and didn't get a promotion one Gibbs left. I get it from a story telling POV but if it was real life, I'd be so pissed.)

1000 sounds crazy!
I have only seen the original show though, I don't watch any of the spin-offs. Hawaii though I do think makes sense as a setting because of the huge navel base in Pearl Harbor. Los Angeles though I don't get, the base is in San Diego.

I stopped watching it in the early 2010s but I give it props for one of the most shocking deads. Kate's death is right up there with my bb Will Gardner -fuck the Kings TRULY!😤- and George O'Malley. Seeing her suddenly go from laughing to dead was traumatizing to my young soul.
I thought of watching when they brought back Hamm and Mac but ended up skipping it when I learned that they broke up soon after the JAG finale. Like what was the point.
