Lizzo’s request to have the sexual harassment lawsuit filed against her dismissed was denied by a Los Angeles judge.

She argued last year that the case should be dismissed under California’s anti-SLAPP statute. The judge tossed out some claims but ruled the case could go… pic.twitter.com/IEqEth0RLt

“He tossed out some claims - including a particularly loaded charge that Lizzo fat-shamed one of her dancers - but ruled that remainder of the case could go forward”

I knew that particular claim had no chance so not surprised it got tossed but there was more then enough in some of the other claims.

I actually went down a rabbit hole on this the other day because the reporting on it has been spotty. Her lawyers filed a summary motion to strike all of the complaints based on ant-SLAPP laws only. In respect to that, the judge dismissed:

- the sexual harassment and failure to remedy sexual harassment claims about the nude photoshoot;
- the disability discrimination (anxiety) claims about re-auditioning making the plaintiff so nervous she urinated on herself, recording conversations in violation of the NDA and sending them to a recently fired dancer, and voluntarily confessing to sending the recording, which resulted in her immediate termination;
- the intentional interference with economic advantage claim about putting the dancers on a soft hold.

The judge made of a point of stating that this doesn't mean the court is saying the plaintiff's claims are true or that the defendant can't ask for a summary judgment on the other claims under other applicable law, just that anti-SLAPP law doesn't apply to them.

Didn’t even last as long as when Stephen Fry rage-quits Twitter every couple of years.

Someone on Reddit said they think Selena Gomez thinks a social media break is when you close the app and I think that's exactly right
