It’s sad but what she is doing is actually a huge gift to her family. Downsizing so that her family doesn’t have to deal with a bunch of property and stuff is really doing them a kindness.

Everyone should look up Swedish death cleaning and learn more about it, especially if you have older parents. Trust me, you don’t want to deal with a whole house of your parents’ stuff.

SAME. My mom died in 2008, but my dad hasn't touched most of the stuff in their room. And now my hoarder aunt lives with him, so it's basically a nightmare situation.

Same. We had to clear out my grandparents' house. My dad is a pack rat & wanted to keep a bunch of stuff from that house too.

This is honestly such a kindness. Anyone who's had to deal with the death of a loved one knows it's an absolute administrative mess and it hits you at the worst possible time.

"I was packing up (Tennessee home/possible Horse sanctuary) and I started crying … I felt like I was giving up on a dream and what did that mean for me? Did it mean that I was giving up on life? Did it mean that I was throwing in the towel?"

I feel for her. Moving from a beloved home is never easy; it's even more heartbreaking in circumstances like hers. :(

What a wonderful thing to do for her family, even as it comes from such a horrible situation. I wish we could have done this with my Great Aunt before she died. She had a beach property here and there were so many memories there and instead of going through all that with her her SIL just tossed everything. It really broke her heart but she didn't want to face the idea of her dying and didn't take care of a lot of things.
