During an interview with The Wrap, French director and actor Julie Delpy stated, "Sometimes I wish I was African American because at least people don't bash them afterwards when they say something about a reality which is like.. we live in a xenophobic environment" when she was explaining how she got backlash for saying how the academy [awards] is "very white male" a few years back because she's a woman (because apparently black women don't exist). She also said, “There's nothing worse than being a woman in this business. I really believe there’s nothing worse…Actually, in America. Because in France it’s fine.” Full clip here.

edit: apparently this is from 2016 but it's currently gaining traction on twitter rn so I thought it was new. still an ignorant thing to say and it definitely deserves to still be talked about.
