Drake Bell says Nickelodeon's response to #QuietonSet is "pretty empty."

"If there was any truth behind them actually caring, there would be something more than quotes on a page by obviously a legal representative telling them exactly how to tailor a response.”… pic.twitter.com/CluqJ1c7lY

when i was a young teen and more “well gross men will be gross men” and “it’s cool to be desired by adults,” i used to go to a forum called superiorpics to find hq photos of my favorite actresses who were around the same age as me.

i remember one of them having a profile pic that was a gif of jamie lynn getting the goo on her face with friar john from disney’s robin hood looking like he was doing /that/ to her.
there was also a guy who had underage ariana in a bikini getting squirted by water guns from victorious.

they knew what was going on. they knew that their audience wasn’t just children the same way some of these parents who push their kids onto youtube are well aware.

he’s right. their words are empty.

It was so hard to watch Drake’s dad. He KNEW. And unfortunately, Brian knew exactly how to ostracize him and get his hooks in. It had to be so incredibly difficult to realize it was his son that this happened to after having a sense that this guy was bad news from day one. And same with Drake. You could tell he could not physically say what had happened to him, he let the court documents do the talking - so incredibly sad. There are so many layers of that type of grooming, gender discrimination, inappropriate child scenes. Looking back at some of those scenes, I never realize the implication at the time…but wow. All those older men definitely knew what they were doing and the audience (outside of children) they were pandering to. It’s sick to realize what these men made these children do. And I don’t think this documentary even scraped 5% of the shit that went down, unfortunately.

the way he used drake parents against each other because they're estranged it's foul I can't imagine the guilt his mom must feel for falling for that as well

yeah for sure. Those were only the testimonies of the people who were willing to share - Drake's being the most degrading one.

But I am 1.000% sure there were others just as bad, especially with the girls. I mean, if they humilliated Ariana Grande like THAT on camera (and it aired!!!), I can only imagina what they could have done backstage. This makes me so freaking sad.

All of this is so heartbreaking and hopefully a cultural shift for what child actors have to deal with

It also makes me wonder what Drake Bell’s response to his own victim(s?) was

Re: Drake's response - in the doc he said he did it cos he was spiralling and using lots of substances and he did what the court told him to do (community serevice, etc.)

i personally didn't appreciate the way Drake harming children was kind framed/presented on the doc

I haven’t watched but from all the coverage I’ve seen that’s the exact vibe I got. Pretty gross!

I think he deserves empathy for what he went through as a child and accountability for what he did to a child as an adult.

mte

two things can be true at the same - he was abused as a child which is horrific but as an adult he's harmed children which is also horrific

I don't fully understand how the US justice system works - can't there be some sort of inquiry to all this information that has come out, and a case brought against Nickelodeon? This systematic abuse cannot possibly be allowed to go unpunished

idk what the statute of limitations would be, but in order to prosecute a case, a district attorney has to feel there is enough evidence to win at trial, basically. If an attorney feels for whatever reason that the case is not likely to be successful, they usually don't bother

I see - thank you for explaining

I'm not sure what they can be held criminally liable for but they should be able to be held responsible in a civil suit. I'm wondering if they did something shady - like offering a small settlement for a release in liability when these kids became adults and desperately needed money.

Was very disappointed to read Kimmy Robertson's letter supporting Brian Peck. Talk about someone who apparently completely misunderstood Twin Peaks, she acted like a 14 year old child was seductive. I cannot ever imagine sticking my neck out for someone who was accused of such a horrible thing.

I haven't watch the doc yet, but it all sounds incredibly upsetting.

she’s absolutely foul. she still hangs out with him and called 15 year old Drake “an outrageous, overtly gay, oversexed person” in her letter.

Kimmy Robertson who wrote a letter in defence of Brian Peck in 2004 has been hanging out with Brian Peck in 2018 and 2021 AFTER he’s a convicted sex offender.

She also guest starred on one episode of Drake & Josh. At this point Brian plead guilty and she wrote a letter. pic.twitter.com/kxocMWuzHA

yeah I was reading the Twin Peaks subreddit and apparently she's a real piece of work. Also pushes anti-vaxx shit.

could NEVER be me.

You know I actually have an experience where an ex of mine never assaulted or abused me, but he went on after we broke up to assault several girls and women. Just because he never did it to me, did I ever think for ONE second that these women were lying? NEVER. When people defend predators by acting like their personal experience with them explains everything, I just lose my mind. Do people think abusers just go around abusing every single person they meet??? It's so stupid.

This is something I will never understand and it pisses me off so much. My mom was sexually and physically abused by her stepfather and he was also physically abusive towards my grandma, aunt, and uncle. He was only abusive towards his step kids and wife, but not towards his real daughter. But when I was born, he LOVED me and I could do no wrong in his eyes. He spoiled me and never did anything inappropriate with me, he was just my grandpa. However when I was told about the abuse, I couldn't stop thinking about it and by the time I was an adult, I had very minimal contact with him and he would cry about it but I didn't care because I know what he did to my mom and other family members so I guess karma. I saw him at my cousins graduation party and he was so happy to see me but I left not that long after because I felt like I couldn't breathe and I felt sick.
