This past week: On SVU ("Third Man Syndrome") a man is brutally assaulted for being perceived to be gay and the only witness who can testify is agoraphobic (the show's words/diagnosis, not mine) and can't leave her apartment. Meanwhile, on OC ("Sins of Our Fathers") Stabler and his brothers prepare to move their mom into assisted living while ( Read more... )

I'm really happy that SVU is still on air because it's like slipping into old shoes, very comfortable. Mariska and I are at the same age, so it's like growing older with a TV character. That said, the Stabler/Benson will-they-or-won't they is really getting on my nerves, because I generally dislike the Stabler character (it's the writing, not Christopher Meloni).

I’ve said it before but I have never understood that ship!!!! I was a big fan of Alex/Olivia but never saw anything that would have promoted Elliott and Olivia aside from the fact that they’re opposite genders and ObViOuSLy can’t just be friends.

I do wonder if the rewatch I want to do eventually will change that, and if my brain will process the older episodes differently 20 years later.

I doubt that rewatching changes much. We get to see episodes from 2002 here and it's still just a rather wobbly working relationship between two people with very different worldviews and circumstances. And Stabler?

There is a team and one fragile male ego who lives in his own world, playing cowboy. That character who cries in his sleep that he'll never have the credibility and coolness of his black co-worker.

I have been behind on SVU since like... two seasons ago? They started expecting me to watch Organized Crime to keep up and I started not wanting to be expected to do that. I will probably binge them eventually, procedurals are comforting to me

Whaaaat this is cool!!! I didn’t know they filmed on location for stuff like that. Do you remember when? Behind the scenes stuff fascinates me.

It was a few weeks ago. The location is called Rockbar NYC. Gay bear bar.

Organised Crime
Elliot thought he was the shit for looking after his mum but it turns out that older brother was the one that was carrying the family's emotional baggage. I love how the younger brother was casually doing heroin under a bridge. Looking at the preview, Elliot just picks whatever case he wants to work on?

Law and Order
How can you cut someone loose that has admitted to a murder? Tony Goodwyn's character was correct. The endless plot twists were classic Law and Order. I was tense the entire time and didn't want to skip to the end. It was classic law and order down to the verdict. I half expected the boyfriend to shoot the racists.
