I'm looking to redecorate my walls. during lockdown I went nuts and went totally maximalist in my decor. my inspiration was Carrie Fisher's house as seen in her documentary before she passed: just stuff stuff everywhere, things to look at closely and from afar. Our living room walls have dozens upon dozens of framed pics of pop culture stuff. It's also very family restaurant. I loved it for a while because it was stimulating in lockdown and also I was rebelling over the sterile white museums that passes for modern decor ( ... )

In my heart I’m a maximalist and I’ve always loved those super colourful British homes. But in my life I’m a) renting, and b) way too lazy and unskilled to paint and upholster things.

My dream sofa is a big squishy olive green velvet, but the one I want is $10000 so I just live with the burgundy sectional I’ve had for years and hate.

Maybe you could do an olive velvet slipcover?

I have a dream of decorating my living room in bright colors. Either like one of those homes in the New Mexico desert with prints from the indigenous heritage I come from or like one of those blare 60’s colors contrasted with dark furniture.

For now I just put lots of art in my wall in frames.

My room is more a goth dungeon.

My problem is that if I want to redo a room, I need to do it all at once because otherwise I buy something here and there and then it no longer matches the overall idea but I don’t have the money to do that 😅

Similar situation here & I solved it (still in the process of doing so) by determining what exactly I want my space to look and feel like & making a shopping list of the pieces I want. Then I bought only the absolutely necessary ones at once, and am now keeping my eyes peeled for deals or second-hand offers on the missing ones. It takes time and continuous effort, ngl, but this way I saved so much money already! Just don't stray away from the list haha

I have a weakness for Soviet-era kitsch, Bukhara/Tekke rugs, and upcycled furniture.
