I deleted. It came across wrong. I took it the wrong way and my post reflected that. I apologize.

There was nothing wrong with your comment. You are absolutely fine. Having this post approved with no TW and/or not having the cause of death behind a cut is a wild decision in 2024.

the family history seems complicated but

Kody also acknowledged the rift that had formed between him and his boys in an episode that aired in May 2023.

"I haven't been in touch with Gabriel and Garrison for quite a while," he shared at the time. "I'm pretty sad that I'm not close [to them] anymore. There was just so many things in our lives that we did that were rich together, you know, just special experiences."

absolutely broke my heart. i hope they were able to mend their relationships

may he rest in the peace he deserves :(

I hope they can mend it too. Kody is an awful guy but the family schism has been pretty brutal. essentially Kody chose his fourth wife and their kids over everyone else.

he's just saying that, if he had been sad he would've reached out to them instead of doubling down on his bs

Like yeah, I'm sure he IS sad...he just isn't willing to acknowledge his part in why they were estranged, so it ain't gonna change.

I just read this, absolutely shocked in the sad way, but not surprised that these kids struggle with mental health. I have watched every season of this show because I am totally fascinated by cults, and these poor kids went through a lot of bullshit to put up with their parents wanting to be reality tv stars. A lot of them have come out and spoken about how growing up on a reality show fucked them up, how growing up in a religious cult fucked them up, and their own father was yapping in the most recent season that his adult kids don't need him anymore and he's done being their father.

Kody is an awful person but if nothing else I hope this wakes him up and he realizes that all of his children need their father.

this is incredibly sad to read, so many layers to the issues these children are facing

growing up in a cult is traumatizing enough, add a reality show to it and youre just adding even more exploitation

yeah, it was no way to have a childhood. 3/4 mothers in the situation were desolately miserable, all the children from those mothers felt terribly neglected, they uprooted these children multiple times to give the television show a fake storyline (their season one move from Utah to Vegas that they dropped on the kids like a bomb was GREATLY exaggerated for the storyline. But I do think the kids were convinced the cops were going to come take their parents away even though that was never really on the table legally). Not to mention in a family with 18 kids, there are some queer kids, some kids who just seem to get completely lost in the shuffle. a LOT of these children were parentified because the parents just assumed the older children were free hired help. This family spent over a decade pretending their lifestyle was happy and normal when it never was. But I don't think any of the parents wanted to deal with having a real job when TLC was paying them checks to sell their family

yapping in the most recent season that his adult kids don't need him anymore and he's done being their father.

This just goes to show what a terrible father he is. The entire goal of being a good parent is to raise your children to become independent adults who don't need you anymore. If you're having kids because you want subservient beings who will always be dependent on you and see you as a superior being, get a goldfish.

This is so fucking sad. I really hope Gabe gets support, that poor kid will be devastated.
