Where's Kate Middleton? Her rep brushes off speculation

Feb 29, 2024 17:01

Various conspiracy theories have been circulating online since Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, underwent surgery and took time off from her royal duties. Kensington Palace said in January that Kate is recovering from planned abdominal surgery. However, people think she may have had cosmetic surgery, is dealing with serious health issues or ( Read more... )

i don't understand what the big conspiracy here is, do people think she is dead?

Yeah, she took offense at Meghan trying to give her an out for making a dumb comment by suggesting she had "baby brain," which she did. Strange, because all through her pregnancies, Kate was everywhere talking about her morning sickness and she didn't try to be private about that at all.

I don't have a problem with her not wanting to discuss whatever kind of surgery she had. I find it odd that she hasn't thanked the public for their get well cards, none of her family has visited, and William has been running off to party with Tom Cruise and the actors at the BAFTAs but not doing any real work.

Nah, William has always been lazy and useless, he’s probably jumping at the chance to take a step back from work.
And hopefully he is being a present parent to their children. Having a
sick mum is scary and traumatic, and the Wales children are probably aware of the speculations if they are attending school as usual.

well, "baby brain" has always implied to me that women become dumber when pregnant. I would never appreciate having someone use that term with me

I think she has some sort of IBD like Crohn’s disease and had a bowl resection. It aligns with the length of the hospital stay, the recovery time, and how much weight she has lost over the last few years. It’s a brutal recovery and she could even have a colostomy bag.

This is awful but I'm afraid that if she tried to leave, they'd do what Monaco did to.... I think name is Charlotte?

LOTS of things, death, cosmetic surgery, I saw one theory that she was pregnant from an affair so they were keeping her locked up and giving the baby up for adoption....

I don't know what abdominal surgery takes 9mo of down time. I had an emergency c section and was, what I'd call, fully physically, recovered in a couple months. My mother had a full hysterectomy and she was recovered in less than 6.

I think there is something going on, but I also think it's not really anyone's business what's going on with someone's health.

i have seen comments that big bowel surgeries really take that long to recover from

this, plus she's literally a princess. normal people might have to be up and working as soon as possible but if we could we'd take the full recommended rest plus some extra just to make sure. 2-3 months might even be a bit short, depending on the surgery and whether she had complications (which happen all the time).

the fact that Charles isn't making her trot around like a show pony isn't conspiracy worthy imo. I might not like him but he's had a front row seat to the damage that constantly performing and being in the public eye has done to his family. not hauling her out for a photo op seems like the bare minimum a good father-in-law could do.

For real. It’s actually softened me a bit on Charles. The forced post-medical photo ops were definitely demands from Elizabeth.

In my family's experience... bowel resections. My mom has had 2 and both were almost 2 weeks in the hospital. And while she was able to do stuff around the house a few weeks after, she wasn't 100% back to herself for a while longer.

My cousin had a bowel obstruction/resection and just like your mom she was in the hospital for a couple of weeks. Minus the day she left to go to her son’s wedding for like 6 hours then straight back to the hospital! After the surgery she was recovering for almost 4 months. So that seems pretty in line with Kate.

No idea where people are getting 9 months from.

The 9 months came from a tabloid article where a doctor (not Kate's obviously) speculated (again without knowing any of Kate's medical details) that certain abdominal surgeries can take up to 9 months to fully heal. Certain people then interpreted this to mean Kate will not be seen for 9 months which then morphed into KP issued a statement that Kate won't be seen for 9 months when they previously had her out for only around 3 months.

I think it's a bowel resection, too. It's a big abdominal surgery with weeks of downtime, she's going to look crappy and not be able to move while she's recovering, etc. Easter is just about the right amount of time for her to be almost back to normal.

Where’s this 9 months recovery coming from I keep seeing on ontd? She has surgery Jan and is due back in a public role after Easter so that’s 4 months. Or have I missed an announcement?

There were a couple of "rags" that published that 9 month recovery around the same time that Charles was diagnosed with cancer. Someone posted a timeline from Twitter, let me see if I can find it.
