I still remember when he gave his Oscars speech and he thanked his wife by her full name “Chelsea Winstanley” instead of saying “my wife” and Twitter was calling him a feminist for saying her full name instead of defining her by his relation to her, but in reality he said it like that because she had already dumped him 💀

i remember users saying that he changed after getting success with ragnarok and that were surprised at how much he was into his own hype and fame.

But I feel like he’s always been like that.

I remember reading an interview with Bret from Flight of the Conchords and he talked about getting invited to a con after LOTR came out because of the insane fandom around his character. He invited Taika along and while they were there Bret was so uncomfortable with all of the attention and fanfare but Taika was living it up and loving every minute of it.

It made me wonder if the people who've known him for a long time are not surprised that he's "on his own buzz" and went full Hollywood lol.

It's also interesting because the Conchord guys are definitely more talented and interesting, but I think have stated flat-out that they just weren't made for that life and were much happy to raise their families in NZ and occasionally do a job.

Though Jemaine started getting visibly annoyed when people were crediting Taika for the What We Do in the Shadows TV show because that's pretty much all Jemaine.
