It's a really good listen. In this type of story, their part would usually just end after the conviction, etc., but this shows the wrestling with the aftermath of recognizing you were manipulated too, and what was the cost of that manipulation for another person?

Also, they raised a really interesting commentary on not wanting to say something because it would be boiled down by Variety or Hollywood Reporter, and this story would forever be connected with Boy Meets World when really it's not a Boy Meets World story at all. And also how to have this conversation when things like child abuse and grooming have been harnessed by the right to prop up terrible actions against marginalized groups.

Shane Dawson collaborator Kati Morton talking about grooming is ironic

Wild, I didn't know she had an online presence/worked with Dawson. A lot of the podcast is them talking about the situation and their own feelings with interjection rather than being led by Morton

As a therapist, I'm really uncomfortable with how much of a platform Kati Morton has built. That collaboration was wildly unprofessional and unethical. She also partners with BetterHelp, another big red flag.

came here to see if anyone mentioned her. i've watched videos calling her out recently so it's a rare case of being familiar with a content creator/influencer who's posted about at ontd heh.

Whenever more stories come out about abuse on the sets of Nickelodeon shows, I always think about Jennette McCurdy saying in her book that the network offered her $300k on the condition that she could never talk publicly about her experiences with Nickelodeon and Dan Schneider. The executives knew what was happening and their main concern was keeping any of the kids from talking about it.

I thought this was a really great episode but I side eyed Rider hard for still wanting to protect and not talk about the abuser because he doesn't want to cast a bad light on Hollywood. Sometimes his takes make me roll my eyes very hard.

Yeah honestly I didn't think this made them look that great. That they admitted to thinking the guy was just a victim of jail bait really grossed me out.

Yeah, I tried to give them grace because Will at least seemed to have such intense guilt and shame over it but I mean, these were grown adults believing that this other grown man was taken advantage of by a child??? And the fact that Rider seemed like he was just annoyed to be talking about it all. I also really wasn't a fan of his satanic panic comparison. I'm honestly getting angrier the more I think about it.

I can appreciate that they say they've grown and learn from it but also the timing seems opportunistic as well. I just get a bad vibe

Kati Morton isn’t a groomer, but she did work with Shane Dawson. She’s a weird one tbh.

still weird to be friends with a groomer or do vids with them if you're supposed to be against grooming though
