I'm torn. While I loved Steven's Bauhaus inspired teapot and mugs, I think he (like me) expected the colors to be a lot brighter. Instead, they were more muted, and that took away from the "Bauhausness" of it all. :( It seems like a lot of the potters had that problem this week (except for Dan, who played it smart with his octopus and slathered the color on).
While Donna deserved to win, I wish some of the others will step it up a bit, because it gets boring and predictable when it's obvious at an early stage who is going to win it all. I'm excited for the abstract light sculptures next week!
IA about Donna- I don’t want to not root for her, either, because of it and be frustrated each week if it becomes predictable- I want the others to step it up!
Yes, for me the issue isn't Donna doing well every week. It's that the other contestants need to really up their game (and make better choices). Donna is very talented but one of the things that really helps put her at the top each week is that she makes smart design choices.
Although Steven's set was designed and made really well, I felt that his teapot and mugs suffered from the same problem that Cadi had - they both used shapes that did not allow for the Majolica glazes' characteristic pooling.
In contrast, I thought Donna's design was a little bit too busy (which, to be fair, did make it look like a coral reef) but she had so much texture in all the pieces which allowed the Majolica glazes to pool as they were meant to do.
I agree that Steven's would have been a bit more Bauhaus if the colors had been brighter/more intense.
I really really liked Sophie’s! Even my bf commented, and it’s rare for him to give an opinion on the actual pottery/be properly watching, so I was surprised, and by who went!
I was really surprised that Dave wasn't eliminated. His colors were very pale and let's be honest - his teapot didn't pour. Donna's snake design last week was much better.

I thought Sophie's octopus was great too.
