I wonder if the commercial was shot and/or meant to actually portray somewhere in Newfoundland, or if the music selector just thought the song was a random jaunty country tune that fit the commercial's plot? Would people unfamiliar with the song/history even know it's connected to Newfoundland to make said negative association?

Personally, I think that Newfoundlanders sensitivity is also what makes them so friendly and is part of their charm, so I won't protest what they find to be an offensive representation of their culture.

Thought Newfies would have had a better sense of humour especially since I grew up there. But I also haven’t seen the commercial. lol. But I love that song.
