People who have read the book: Is this some white savior nonsense? I want to watch for Tadanobu Asano, but i have to know ahead of time if i should lower my expectations.

I haven't read it, but it's apparently based on a real Englishman (William Adams aka Miura Anjin) who did in fact wind up in Japan during the Shogunate and became an advisor to Tokugawa Ieyasu.

Unlike some films it looks like the emphasis here is going to be more on (Hiroyuki Sanada's character. The Englishman seems to be more of a secondary focus.

About damn time. This is legit. It better ain’t like that one movie The Last Samurai 😩😭😮‍💨🙏🏾

Also I am desperately waiting for the inevitable iconic legendary Oscar winning Ghost of Tsushima live action movie to snatch me right outta the world and get me reborn back on earth to experience the best viewing experience for the first time ever again.

i'm really looking forward to this! it looks promising (and anna sawai i will be free on thursday please call me on thursday). a tv writer i follow got screeners and couldn't give a full review yet, but was clearly hyped about it.
