Hmmm. She has a valid point, but she could have made it without mentioning a particular person. Not cool.

I love Tammy and idg how people can hate it. It has Susan Sarandon, Kathy Bates, Sandra Oh, Alison Janney, a Duplass brother.

I find it funny and idgaf that it's not highbrow, it's entertaining.

Plus the perfect frat boy insult is from that film:

I don't ever wanna love a man as much as Melissa loves her husband. Doing his garbage movies and tacking him onto so many of her projects is such a mistake and has definitely hurt her career. Her best work doesn't involve him creatively. Spy 2 when?

Spy is great like other people have said. By and large the unwatchable Melissa McCarthy movies are mostly written or produced by her husband Ben Falcone. He's...not good.

Echoing everyone's recs to give Spy and CAn You Ever Forgive Me? a chance. Both are fantastic for very different reasons.

I don’t think she was trying to take a dig at Melissa as a person.

I think the OP means, because this is a headline culture where people don't read or think deeper, just bringing up another person will still come off as a dig at them, even if the comment really doesn't include a dig.

Right now, the dumbs are hung-up on their misread of Mo'Nique taking shots at Melissa McCarthy, and not thinking "oh yeah, good point. Melissa did have a wholly different outcome with a nearly identical set of ingredients."

Sucks because this is the kind of extra racially charged nitpick Mo'Nique is talking about, but if she retriggers it to an extent, it makes it harder for the message to come through to the dumbs who need it most.
