Absolutely not, Mary Andrews was consistently one of the only truly kind and sensible people in that town, even in the 1950’s season!

She has a segment on This American Life about watching Breakfast Club with her daughter that aired several years ago. She also has translated multiple books from French which is fascinating. I didn't know she was fluent. (While confirming this, I found an article or blog post critiquing her translation so she might not be a stellar translator, ha.)

I only knew she was fluent in French because in one of the interviews at the height of her fame as a teenager mentioned that she attended the Lycée Français in LA and spoke French (after her run of teen movies, the press also made a big deal about her moving to France). I took French in middle school and high school so I remember thinking she was so cool for being fluent in French (meanwhile I was plodding through learning irregular verbs thinking about how great it would be to converse fluently in French).

I want to ask her about this... allegedly writer of Scream wanted her as Sidney Prescott in Scream, but she didn't want to play a teenager. She's only 5 years older than Neve Campbell.

I feel like 5 years is a lot when playing a teen.

ITA - five years can make a huge difference and no one wants to be the Steve Sanders/Andrea Zuckerman of the cast. Molly was 28 when filming began so I can understand her reluctance to play a high school student.

Molly’s career after the John Hughes years is the definition of “choices”. She passed on Blue Velvet and Pretty Woman amongst other things.
