Anyways, thanks for putting the book about the Black and White Ball on my radar! Already put it on hold!

I thought the Leamer book was the most efficient source for learning about the swans. I also liked that the book was organized into chapters about each of them, rather than skipping back and forth between the different swans. But I can see how the underlying tone could be off putting.
I am not a huge fan of historical fiction so The Swans of Fifth Avenue was just okay. I also didn't like the way the book kept jumping around to different timelines (yet only put a date at the beginning of the chapters when they were in the post-La Côte Basque era). I was able to follow the different timelines easily because I'd already read Capote's Women but I felt like a casual reader who wasn't familiar with the situation might find it confusing.
Party of the Century includes shorter bio sketches about the participants (including some non-swan guests) so you can probably skip most of the beginning chapters and just read about the party planning and the actual party (but make sure you flip through the chapters you skip because there are pictures ( ... )

According to Party of the Century, only one couple managed to crash the Black & White Ball but it wasn't Ann and her son (it was a random couple who didn't know anyone there and Truman let them stay).
Bonus for using Swan Lake music when Truman danced with his mom's ghost!

Season 1 of Feud is available on Disney+ in a lot of countries, so it's possible it'll be the same for season 2 at some point.
