taking spots over actual rock musicians like the Foo Fighters or Springsteen.

What's funny to me is so many fanbases are desperate for this shitty award and this is what they're up against.

I'm curious to see what becomes of these award shoes over the next few years because I don't think their current "system" is sustainable in terms of artist participation or viewership/engagement.

they keep upping the number of nominations (and diluting the prestige in the process) when they don't realize the reason no one's watching anymore is because they don't have cable. if they were smart they'd stream it for free online but noooo. you can't even watch a lot of past vma performances on youtube. like why are you keeping that stuff locked up? it's so stupid

The only people in my life that still have cable are from Florida and are heavy stoners and drinkers.

I don't hang with them bc they literally use the cable as a way to numb out even more, and they avoid streaming platforms because....I guess these 3 people have no desire to watch high quality work.

But seriously, all of em would benefit from therapy.

That's exactly it. As someone without cable I would have happily paid a one time $5 to stream the awards shows.

And she still performs/sounds like that today, so what's the problem?

one bad performance is a ridiculous thing to reject an artist for especially considering it was over a decade ago. but lbr the majority of these voters excuses for refusing to vote for someone is really just misogyny and/or racism. i doubt most of them even listen to all the albums and songs before voting
