My new favorite theory about this book/movie is that Taylor Swift no longer wrote it, but JK Rowling did. Writing and illustrations for the book matches how JKR likes things and it would make sense that someone with a big name and money could get studios to make a movie when the book isn't even out.

Pause... the book wasn't even out yet? That makes no sense omg

Oop, the book came out Jan 2024 and the movie Feb 2024 the timeline still doesn't make sense tho. Why make a film with a large budget on a book that hasn't been out long enough to see if it's a hit.

mte Why did they buy the film rights without knowing how the book would do first? The people making the big decisions in this industry are idiots.

everytime I see something about this movie I can't stop thinking about how godawful Dua's hair looks on that shot where she's whispering something into Henry Cavill's ear

I didn’t hate it but it was too long and the marketing was messed up. I want Matthew to share whatever he was on when he wrote this. Any by messed up marketing I mean [Spoiler (click to open)]why bother with all the ads acting like Dua is in the movie for more than 7 minutes and as if Henry cavil is the lead

Honestly, just the way the trailer was set up and the conceit reveal, I assumed those two were only there for flashy eye candy and would have minimal screen time.

I have this confused thought that.... they thought they were the meatiest baits in attracting the attention and people? but that's lousy and bound to disappoint either way...

I mean imagine a whole movie of Dua and Cavill as leads? sheesh.... snore...

Whenever I see big budget movies flopping, I think of Godzilla Minus One with its 15 mill budget and EEAAO with its 25 mill budget. :P

Right?
I didn’t like EEAAO, but it had tons going on; tons of effects as well, so it can be done.

Godzilla Minus One was only 15 million???? The VFX looked so good! Wow.

I think they relied on integrating some practical effects which probably brought the price down

I've started buying into the money laundering conspiracy theory.
