Not surprised about Argylle; the trailer looked awful. It’s a dark period for cinema right now

the zone of interest appeared in one theatre here for the first time last weekend and i thought about going on friday, but i was in a bad headspace already and figured i should wait. waiting until i felt more mentally prepared turned out to be a good call! jesus christ. i know it's already the frontrunner for best international feature, but if it doesn't also win best sound then i don't know what the hell we're doing here. utterly haunting.

on the opposite side of the cinematic spectrum lmao, i'm seeing argylle on friday. i got tickets before the reviews dropped so wish me luck (getting dinner at one of my fave spots right before so there's still that!)

i might also see poor things early next week since it's back in a theatre near me, if i have time. american fiction is supposed to be out on VOD next tuesday too. i need more time to catch up on movies right now!

I've resigned myself to Oppenheimer winning Sound. Though I guess voters might go for Maestro because of music or Creator/MI7 because action. But yeah, Zone of Interest is my hopeful win in that category.

lol no thanks @ Argylle, sounds way too dumb and too long. Seeing How to Have Sex next week, not really sure about Scrambled -- reviews are good and I wanna support filmmaker ladies, but I cannot relate to the premise at ALL, lol. Really want to see Fitting In, but the only NYC theater is out of my way and I don't wanna take the dang train this weekend. I hope it goes wider.

Finally watched The Flash last night and I know it's low-hanging fruit @ this point, but Jesus, the humor was excruciating. I realized Past/Teen Barry was basically playing the entire thing as Buddy the Elf and it was so deeply annoying. And the CGI of the Chronobowl in particular was shockingly bad. (but man I'm a sucker for that Danny Elfman Batman score!!!)

I saw American fiction last weekend. I loved it. It was so funny. Happy for all it’s nominations.

After watching it, I 100% believe Sterling when he says that he didn’t think he would be nominated. I think he did great in it, but he didn’t really have much to work with. He does have my favorite moment in the movie.

I want to see fitting in. But I still have four best pictures movies to get through and some of them only have one showing at my theater at this point. I also want to see all of the strangers.

I love a good coming of age story so I want to see "How To Have Sex."
