Not just what other people mentioned about the economy, but I feel like Coachella itself has gotten a really bad rep on social media in recent years. Last time the festival happened I feel like all I ever saw about it was people complaining about how frustrated the musicians were at the dead crowds. It's gotten a reputation of being an influencer event, and influencers go there mostly to take pictures and videos of themselves.
So at this point why pay minimum $500 for an exhaustive all day event with a dead crowd when you can pay minimum $80 to $200 to see your fave with a crowd that's gonna be way more responsive?
Yeah that’s the impression I got also. It’s not for music enthusiasts anymore; just influencers, wannabe influencers and D-list celebs for the most part.
Yeah like they did this to themselves, courting and catering to influencer and celebrity attendees whose interest in things tends to be short lived as they move on to the next best thing, and who kind of ruin the experience for everyone else. Had they focused instead on creating a good live music experience they'd probably enjoy more consistent sales since live music never goes out of style.
despite the ontd curmudgeon stereotype i love activities and events and fun
BUT
you couldn't pay me to go to a multi day festival where you are camping just to be very far away from your favorite bands' sets and surrounded by a bunch of naked influencers who rented ritzy air bnbs and probably just talk through all the music anyway. if i wanted to have BO, bad sleep, and be surrounded by vape clouds and dead eyed assholes I could find a way to do it for less than $500 i'm sure.
Also I had so much fun at the eras tour but after that I decided no more huge shows, it wears on your body lmao
Oh and waiting in line to pay $10 for coffee?!? Who can afford any of this at this point
I love smaller shows so much - like you just grab dinner next door beforehand, walk right in, vibe out with a bunch of like-minded fans, and get home at a reasonable hour to get some sleep. No long lines, pushy fans, overpriced venue food, crowded parking lots, any of that mess. There's a few big shows I would consider (like a full Spice Girls reunion or a partial festival), but yeah they really take it out of you so it has to be someone that really matters.
I’ve had a friend go to hook up with men and she came back with “mystifying” UTI, and told me she must not have hydrated enough.
And I’m like, it’s because a lot of men only wash their hands with soap (accidentally) in the shower, bb. You let them put their Day 2 Coachella fingers in you!
The Lovers and Friends line up this year is better than last imo. I did laugh though how BSB was in the main marque in huge letters and 98 degrees was way low in small font.
